PracticeWorks Export Procedure


These steps are used to export a full patient database for your email campaigns. Please contact us (800-689-6434) if you have any questions.


  1. In the top menu of CS PracticeWorks, click on the following menu items:

    • Experts > Contact Expert > User defined

  2. In the popup, search for the item called: Active Patients List w/email

    1. Click OK

  3. In the new popup, click: Generate new Contact Expert   

  4. Click the Actions button in the bottom-center

  5. Click on item: All Displayed Records, and click: OK 

  6. Uncheck existing items, and make sure the only item selected is: Document: Patient List w/email (Print Later) and then click OK

  7. Your computer should then begin generating the report.  Once complete, everything should disappear from your screen and take you back to the dashboard view.

  8. From the main screen, go to: File > Print > Document queue…

  9. In the second column, called “Document Name” scroll until you find: Patient List w/email and highlight any row with that title.  In the lower section, select the option: All documents named: Patient List w/email, then click Print or export selection

  10. In the confirmation box, click Yes 

  11. In the left column of the new popup, please locate a folder you know how to find easily like the Documents folder or the Desktop to save the file to.

    1. In the dropdown below the filename, make sure you change the selected item to: All Files (*.*)

    2. Then name the document something easy to remember and reference, such as: Patient List - [today’s date]

      1. Example: Patient List - 3/17/2023

    3. Then click Save

If for whatever reason the file type for the document is not a CSV file (meaning the document ends in .csv) please locate the file where you saved it, Right-Click on the file and choose Rename, then change the last part of the name to .csv
